Developer

Meghan Morris

Summary: Count Me In — Taking control of your personal data

Count Me In aims to put the power of health data back in the hands of the people. The app allows people to choose what data they have access to, who can use that data, and how much they should be reimbursed for having that data. Count Me In is positioned in contrast to the current state of healthcare, where data can be a form currency in the healthcare market.

Inspiration

Meghan Morris notes, “We are inspired by a feeling. When you walk out of an encounter in healthcare, do you feel that you know your data? Or that you have access to your data? Do you know who has access to your data and how it is used? The feeling of powerlessness based on you inability to answer those questions is unnecessary today.” Count Me In is built to be a modern and compassionate use of technology within the healthcare ecosystem.

Approaching the Problem

Count Me In was developed with “blood, sweat, and tears…”, and node.js react, and firebase.

The main issues the developers ran into were converting ideas from paper to code, architecting the data model, refining the use cases, and UX design. Within the context of the Hackathon, Meghan also ran into the problem of “not having sufficient coffee to keep going.” Building a blockchain database within 48 hours=AKA time limitations.

Future Steps

The Count Me In team aims to bring the app to market by 2023 to make a significant impact on people and healthcare.

Congratulations to Meghan for developing this project!
