DATAVANT Team
Our mission is to connect the world’s health data to improve patient outcomes.

Travis May
Founder & President
I founded Datavant in 2017 with a mission to connect the world’s health data to improve patient outcomes. Before this, I built a company called LiveRamp. I’m motivated by i) working with great people, ii) building one of the largest companies of all time, and iii) building one of the most consequential companies of all time.

Pete McCabe
Chief Executive Officer
Pete McCabe has a track record of delivering growth and outstanding client results while achieving operational transformation. He spent the last 19 years at The General Electric Company, most recently as the President and CEO of GE Renewable Energy’s Onshore Wind business. Previously he led Global Services Organization (GSO) for GE Transportation, and held multiple senior roles at GE Healthcare over an 11 year period. Pete earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 from Northeastern University. He and his wife have three daughters.

Abby Bertelson
Chief of Staff
Prior to Datavant, Abby worked in Strategy & Business Operations at Zillow within the Premier Agent business. Abby holds a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University. Outside of work, Abby enjoys traveling, cooking new dishes, and horseback riding.

Aneesh Kulkarni
Founder & Head of Engineering
I helped get Datavant off the ground in 2017, and have led our Engineering function since Day 1. I’m building the engineering team I wish I was part of earlier in my career. We often say that we hire folks that are nice, smart and get things done — we really mean it, and I hope you’ve seen that in the people you met during the interview process. We’re enabling privacy-conscious machine learning applications to be built at a scale never before seen in healthcare, and have a number of technical challenges to solve from secure de-identification of health data, to high-precision matching.

Bob Bailey
Chief Legal Officer
Prior to joining Datavant, Bob Bailey has more than twenty years of experience as a senior executive and more than 12 years as a chief legal officer with private and publicly-traded companies in healthcare.
Starting in 2013, he served as Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Allergan PLC, and its predecessor companies, Forest Laboratories, Inc. and Actavis PLC. At Allergan, Bob led a legal team that managed and negotiated more than 20 closed public and private M&A transactions and numerous life science license and development arrangements. In his career, he has also led teams that defended and resolved a range of complex legal and regulatory matters, including SEC, DOJ, and internal investigations, and intellectual property, antitrust, commercial, product liability and complex tax litigation.
Bob also previously served as Executive Vice President, Law, Policy and Communications at Bausch + Lomb from 2007 to 2013, after serving in successively senior roles in the Legal Department since 1994. Prior to that, he practiced law as an attorney at Nixon Peabody. Bob is a director of TearClear, an innovator in the ophthalmic pharmaceutical field. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Litigation Center. He recently served on the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Morristown (NJ) Medical Center, part of Atlantic Health. Bob received his law degree from the University of Minnesota after graduating from St. Olaf College.

Bob Borek
President & General Manager, Life Sciences, Public Sector & Ecosystem
I joined Datavant 3 years ago and in typical startup fashion have had a variety of roles and responsibilities since joining, from sales to product. Today, I manage our broader product organization. I work at Datavant for two reasons. First, it’s a massive opportunity. Healthcare doesn’t have a world-class middleware company, but desperately needs one. Datavant is going to be that company. Second, the people. On a more practical level, I want to work with exceptional people that I know I can learn from and that I will enjoy working with day in and day out. Datavant had that 3 years ago, and it’s only become more true with time.
Prior to Datavant, I had several different roles that ranged from managing operations at a biopharmaceutical company to working as a restructuring and finance attorney.

Holly May
Chief People Officer
I joined Datavant in summer 2018 — we were just 17 team members. I lead our efforts around building and nurturing a high performing and inclusive team (including talent acquisition, talent development, compensation, growth & performance, employee experience, culture, values and DEI). This also includes the systems we use to scale the company like goal-setting, orientation, communications, knowledge management, success as a remote team, and cross-functional strategic initiatives. I spent 5 years as a management consultant for drug makers and medical product companies, and most recently have been leading talent, culture, and operations within fast growing tech companies. At Datavant, I love that we’re a team of people who are eager to grow and be outside our personal comfort zone — that has characterized my own story and is the story of so many others across the team. I’ve grown more as a person and a professional in the last 1 years than most People executives do in 5-10 years. If that kind of accelerated growth is what you’re looking for as a professional, Datavant is the place to be.
